Do You Believe?

Today is a day of destiny, thought the magic wishing fairy as she rode on her white unicorn. There is something really special and exciting happening in the air. She felt a thrill race through her, like she had never felt before as they raced across the sky. Suddenly she heard a faint sound from a land far away. She just knew she must respond to the call, as something deep inside guided her on. As she touched Magus, her white unicorn instantly leapt forward leaving behind a sparkle of coloured lights in their tracks. Now there comes a time in every Magic Wishing Fairy's life when she knows from the moment she is born that she must pass through the black hole found on the other side of the rainbow. Once this happens her life changes totally forever.

Instinctively Mary Lou the wishing fairy knew that the time had arrived for this to happen. Feeling a little scared and yet quite excited she urged Magus forward. They passed through many lands on their journey waving to everybody they saw. Each time they were greeted with cheers of support and encouragement. Until they came to the land of the giants, then everything changed. The sky became very dark and stormy. Thunder was belching in the air and lightning was streaking across the sky Mary Lou became very agitated and a little frightened as she remembered stories from way back that her Grandmother had told her. These stories held memories of terror as these giants had treated many people very badly. Then out of nowhere a giant stood in their path. He was very ugly with black, angry looking eyes. His arms were folded across his chest and his feet stretched wide apart. His scowl was creating the most fearsome look on his face. He growled at Mary Lou and Magus, "What is your business in the Land of the giants?"

Feeling very small and fragile Mary Lou gathered all her courage as she stammered, "Why, Mr. Giant we are just passing through to the black hole found on the other side of the rainbow." The giant started bellowing with laughter, which was heard throughout the ages as giant thunder claps. "You stupid fairy, this is the black hole that legend has foretold. I am telling you that no-one comes into this land and passes through alive." He then started to lick his lips as he envisaged the meal that was before him. The fairy could be entrée and the unicorn main course. He smiled with glee. His fortune had changed. Lightning started to crackle at his feet and his whole body glowed. Mary Lou and Magus saw inside the giant's stomach and much to their horror there were many wishing fairies and unicorns. They had met their fate at the giant's horrible desires through his incredible hunger.

All of a sudden this brave little fairy gathered together an incredible ball of white light into her heart and sent it flying into the giant's head. Surprised and stunned at what was happening, he stumbled, and then fell over with the impact from the force of this ball of light. Magus and Mary Lou watched in amazement because as he fell to the ground the earth opened up, letting go a screaming sound that they had never heard before. As this was happening the giant's stomach was ripped apart and all the fairies and unicorns, who he had gobbled up, came flying up out of the ground. Next came millions of bats, then frogs and finally came thousands of goldfish.

A giant cauldron then appeared out of nowhere, bubbling over with a liquid that smelt of foul gases. The steam that arose filled the air with a stench that reeked of all those people who had died as they had attempted to pass through this land, so that they could find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. "What was happening here?" thought Mary Lou and Magus as all the fairies, unicorns, bats, frogs and goldfish gathered around them. Nobody knew what to do. They all sat around in despair as their fate appeared to be sealed. They felt as if they were trapped in this horrible place, as they had no idea how to get back to where they had come from Then from out of nowhere a pale blue mist began to form, as a chant was heard coming from the bowels of the inner earth. A beautiful lady started walking towards them from out of the mist. Behind her Mary Lou could see into worlds that she didn't even know existed. The lady smiled and spoke directly to Mary Lou the Magic Wishing Fairy, who had dared to face the horrible giant, that gruesome creature who had preyed on all who had wanted to create a better life for themselves and their families.

"You have come of age, little one. Over the years, we of the inner earth have waited for some-one to come along who would have the courage to face the monster that took on the form of a giant. This ugly thing had tricked all the giants into believing the lies he told so that he could rule this land. He wanted the pot of gold, which is found at the end of the rainbow all for him-self. We have been very disturbed, however our hands were tied. We have waited for you to come of age so that many who have perished at the horrible monsters' whims could be saved. That time has come. I am here to guide you forward to the land of beauty and love. We have watched the giants live in misery hidden away in the depths of the earth for thousands of millions of years. They are now free to come back and re-build their homeland." As the lady spoke giant steps were heard coming from the centre of the earth by all who sat around. Amazed at the sight that met their gaze, they started to clap their hands welcoming the giants back to their former land.

The lady then included everyone as she spoke, "Remember this day, for you have reached into the Land of the Dreaming. You will never know fear or pain again." With that she held her hands up in the air, the magic that then followed was absolutely unbelievable to all those who were there. The love they experienced changed all the worlds that Mary Lou had seen behind this lady. All the bats began to fly around in the sky freed at long last. They flapped their wings with joy as they circled the crowd. The frogs jumped to and fro croaking their sound, filling the air with the sound of freedom. The goldfish began to swim around the crowd creating a golden glow in the air. Magic filled the air. "What is your name lady?" Mary Lou asked. The lady simply smiled and said, "From your far distant past, I have come. For many aeons you have known me as the Mother Isis, now I shall be called Exodus." With that the giants gathered around and lifted Mary Lou high in the air. She clicked her fingers and Magus flew to her side. Head spinning Mary Lou and her friend the unicorn began to tumble through the ages. Unknown to Mary Lou all her new found friends were following the trail they made.

A glowing golden ball of light hung suspended in mid air as they surged forward. Immediately they were engulfed in this ball. This special magic wishing fairy began to laugh. She laughed so hard and for such a long time that everything and everybody around her began to change. A little goblin began to form out of the golden ball, rubbing his eyes he stated loudly, "What is all the noise, you are hurting my ears, I have been asleep for such a long time and now you have awoken me from my slumber. What do you think you are doing?" Mary Lou waved her magic wand and Goblin dissolved again into the golden ball, as she couldn't be bothered with the antics of troublesome creatures anymore. She was very tired after her long ordeal. Rubbing her friend Magus's horn she told him how she was feeling. Magus knew it was now time to tell Mary Lou who he truly was. There could never be secrets between them anymore as they had gone through too much to-gether. "I am your guardian spirit, you will never fall to harm as no matter where you fly I will always be by your side. Feel safe little one." Sighing she fell asleep. In her dreams she saw a golden cauldron and in it were the dreams of all the peoples' from all the lands she had seen behind the lady who came out of the mist in the land of the giants. It bubbled over and the gold it contained dropped into the laps of all those who had followed Mary Lou and Magus.

Exodus's voice was heard, "Congratulations, you have reached your destination; you have fulfilled your mission. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow does exist, and the magic secret for all who want to reach it is to trust and follow their hearts' desires. The black hole no longer exists. You have changed it forever." Mary Lou and Magus sighed contentedly as they knew that whatever was in front of them didn't really matter, so long as they always had fun playing.

No task would ever be too great or too small ever again. And so the legend of the Magic Wishing Fairy began. For centuries since, the grandmother's of old would tell this story to their children as they sat around the campfires.
