Easy Magic Tricks - Master Mentalism Revealed

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I've always been fascinated by Chris Angel and David Blaine. I love the way they mystify us and use the powers of mind control to perform some pretty amazing magic. As a magician myself, I can usually tell how a magic trick is done. Mainly for the fact you can buy the same magic trick at your local magic store, and I've bought many of them.

Mentalism on the other hand uses principles of hypnosis and/or suggestion to present the illusion of mind reading or mind control. There usually are no props, or special apparatus involved (or so the audience thinks). Anyone in the audience that Chris or David uses could be thinking of anything, yet they always know what that person will do or think.

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a product that claimed I could perform many of the same amazing yet simple magic tricks that Chris Angel and David Blaine perform on television.

If you have ever seen these two magicians perform, you know it's amazing. However, when a magician can fool another magician, that is a sign of a world class performer. These two performers have fooled me on many occasions. Because I always want to learn how the pros do it, I became intrigued enough to continue read the salesletter. Sure, in the back of my brain, I was telling myself that I was only reading it from a research perspective, and that I had no intention of actually purchasing the book. However, by the time I was halfway through the salesletter, I absolutely HAD to buy the ebook.

After reading the book, I'm was pleasantly surprised at all the easy magic tricks that were included! If I had this when I first started out, I never would have needed to buy all the magic books and props I spent my money on. If you ever have bought a magic trick you know how expensive they can be.

There were hundreds of magic and mentalism tricks included but one of the easy magic tricks that jumped out at me was "Sit and Stay". In this one a volunteer is invited to sit on a chair on stage. As you talk to them, they feel heavier and heavier, to the degree that when you ask them to rise and stand they are unable to do so.

The authors writing style is easy to follow, and perfectly understandable. However, if you are a complete newbie, the book may be overwhelming as there is so much magic in here.
The Master Mentalism ebook itself is 289 pages of trick after trick. On top of that you also get a few bonuses. The one that impressed me the most was the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks. I haven't had a chance yet to count how many tricks are in there but it is almost 500 pages.

In addition, you do get an ebook, which has some of the tricks David Blaine uses on his television specials as well as the secrets to some of David Copperfield's biggest illusions.

Overall, Master Mentalism is an excellent ebook. You don't have to wait for the magic to arrive in the mail. You are instantly able to download and start performing immediately. This ebook and the bonuses will appeal to beginners and intermediate mentalists and magicians. If you're an advanced mentalist, you won't find anything new here. Advanced magicians like myself will find many new tricks that can be added to your repertoire. The Encyclopedia of Card Tricks alone is worth more than the price of admission, so I'd have to give this ebook and bonuses my highest recommendation.

Magic Tricks Revealed - The Amazing X-Ray Card Trick

This is a simple trick that can easily impress a whole group of people. It only requires a deck of cards, and some practice in front of a mirror. You can do this at a party, as an impromptu trick, or as a regular trick among many others than you can do to easily impress a whole crowd.

This is what the trick will look like to your soon blown away group of happy spectators. You produce a normal, everyday deck of cards, and calmly explain that you have powerful X-ray vision. You hold the deck of cards out, so they can see the bottom card, and you can't. You prove the amazing strength of your X-ray vision by staring through the deck and reading the card on the bottom.

Then you close your eyes, and move the card that is on top, to the bottom. After that open your powerful eyes, intently stare through the deck, and see the card at the bottom. The stunned crowd looks on in amazed silenced. After you do this for every card in the deck, even the most doubting skeptic will be convinced of your powerful X-ray vision.

Here's how do to do the trick. Take a normal pack of cards, and flip the top card over, so that it is facing up. Then flip the deck around, so the audience sees that card. They will assume that it is the card on the bottom, and the rest are facing in the same direction. So while you are holding the deck facing out, they are looking at what they think is the bottom card, and you are looking at what they think is the face down top card, when in reality you are simply looking at the next card, which is face up.

This can take some practice. Many prefer to start this trick out by cutting the deck a few times, taking a peek at the bottom card, and then quickly putting in on top while telling some engaging story. Others prefer to hold the deck behind their backs while they do this. The most important part is to keep talking, and keep the audience engaged. This trick can easily impress people, but if you're not careful, you can get caught just as easily.

A great way to pull this off is to pretend that you aren't a hundred percent certain of the card. Pretend that your X-ray vision is quite up to snuff, and miss a couple cards. For example, instead of calling the Queen of Hearts, call out the Queen of Diamonds. Instead of calling out the Ace of Spades, call out the Aces of Clubs. And act like you are really trying to see the cards. If you do a good enough job of acting, they will be more concerned with you getting the right answer, rather than how you are pulling off this particularly amazing illusion. Have fun with this.

Which Bar Stools Did Hemingway Sit On?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever thought about which bar stools Hemingway would have sat on? This probably isn't the type of thing that would enter the average person's mind on a daily basis but for some people, particularly Hemingway fans, it is a reasonable question.

A recent news story from sunny Florida brought this question to light for many people. The famous and upscale Sloppy Joe's Bar are taking the owners of Captain Tony's Saloon to court to settle an issue over who can really claim rights as the owner of the original Sloppy Joe's as well as bragging rights for a piece of the legend of Ernest Hemingway. The lawsuit which was filed on July 7th in the US District Court said that Captain Tony's infringed on the trademark of Sloppy Joe's. Legends say that Hemingway spent a great time drinking and writing at each bar. Fans of the individual bars argue over the facts that Hemingway ever drank or even visited the opposing bar.

Regardless of which bar is the true owner of the story, if either, there's one thing that's brought to mind when we think of this. If Hemingway really spent as many hours as they say (and as some of his stories would suggest) sitting in the bar writing, what kind of bar stools did he sit on. Were they comfortable? Did they have backs to them? Were they metal or wooden? Did these bar stools swivel?

There are so many questions which one might ponder about the chair that the famous Hemingway may have sat in for so many hours a day, writing and drinking. One would think that these bar stools were comfortable if he spent so much time in them but we can't say for certain. A regular, ordinary old wooden bar stool may have been his thing. Writers are known for their intricacies and this could have been one of Hemingway's.

Since there's no proof of which bar, if either, Hemingway really spent so much time at, it's hard to say exactly what kind of bar stools he sat on. One thing we can assume is that the bar stools he sat on were most likely similar to the other styles of the times. You can look at the era in which Hemingway would have been frequenting bars to get an idea for the types of stools that may have been common but there is little proof of exactly what type he would have been sitting on. Since the bars themselves have also changed over the years, it's not likely they still have the same types of bar stools. This is especially true about Sloppy Joe's which has gained international fame as more than just a bar but also a restaurant, museum and tribute to Hemingway. Sloppy Joe's would be considered much more "high class" than bars of Hemingway's day and it's more like the bar stools he sat on were more like those of the quant Captain Tony's.

Magic Spells

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Human perception of magic and those that practice it has been skewed by popular culture and literature. It is only recently that witches have received some positive highlights and horrible hags of yesteryears are finally receiving their due.

Magic refers to control of external circumstances through mental means and anyone who practices magic is called a witch. 'Spell' is the witch's word for prayer because like a prayer a spell is an appeal to the higher powers for the fulfillment of a desire. Thus, a spell is a way of worship and need to be enacted with the dignity a sacred rite deserves. The way a spell is cast depends up on the complexity of desire and it can be as simple as chanting an incantation or as elaborate as fertility dance. However, there are some basic methodologies that apply to all spells.

The first step to magic spell is to consult the phase of the moon to determine the appropriate time for performing the spell. On the chosen day the witch casts a circle and calls of the four quarters. This basically means that the witch consecrates the space with circular (or spherical) boundaries and evokes the spirits and Gods within that space to bless their magic. The manner in which this is done depends entirely on the witch. The next step refers to the offerings given to please the Gods and direct them towards the heart's desires. These include candles, herbs, crystals and essential oils among other things. For instance, in a spell to attract wealth, there are green or gold candles, herbs like patchouli and dill and the crystal that works best is malachite. It is not necessary to have all these things present since obtaining them can be an expensive affair. If the intent is sincere enough, even the most minimalistic ritual will work. The same ritual may need to be repeated over a number of days to achieve results. Before the spell is concluded, the quarters need to be thanked then sent away and the circle has to be closed.

It is essential to remember that magic works on the principle of what goes round, comes round and so individuals need to be careful what they wish for.

Card Magic Revealed - Astounding Prediction

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are a person who can do magic trick, of course, when you are at a friend's house or at a party, it can't be helped that your friends might come to you and ask you to show a trick. This kind of situation happens all the time.

In this situation, you usually have two choices : first, do a magic trick by using everyday object which can be found around, or second, do a magic card trick.

I suggest that the second way is a lot easier since the object you need to do a magic trick might not be found at that time, but a deck of playing card should not be problem.

One of the good card magic trick that I like to play with my friends is the "Card Prediction Trick." This kind of card trick is usually easy and it has a great effect. Besides, there is not much of a preparation and no tricky move. And the most important thing is, it is a self-working trick.

I have one card prediction trick for you to learn. It's called "Astounding Prediction"

Like I mentioned above, if anyone come to you in a party and ask you to show a magic trick, you just ask for a deck of card, a piece of paper, and an envelope.

First, you write your prediction on a paper which will read: "This evening 'John Smith' will select the Nine of Clubs." You can make it more interesting by predicting the time, but you must be sure you start your trick five minutes earlier. Of course, you must know one of the people who will be at the party because you will use him for your spectator. Then, you place a prediction paper in the envelope and put it in a prominent place in the living room.

Now for a trick. Be sure that the predicted card lies twen-one cards from the top of the deck. Set the deck on the table.

You then say: "I need help for this card magic trick. How about you, John?" Select the person whose name you predicted, in this case 'John Smith'

"Please cut off about a quarter of the pack and hold on to those cards until we need them." Then, you pick up the remainder of the pack and begin to deal cards onto the table from RIGHT to LEFT. Make sure each card overlaps the one before it. Each card should be showing. Deal twenty cards and stop.

You say: "John, you don't know how many cards you have there, do you? Perhaps we should count them." Have someone verify the count. Let us assume he has twelve cards. "Twelve! Ok, let's count twelve cards."

Now, you start counting cards from LEFT to RIGHT and setting the twelfth card aside. You say: "John, we came to this card strictly by chance. We had no idea how many cards you were going to cut to."

Point to the envelope that has been in the living room all the time since your card magic trick started. Stress that fact. "May we have the famous envelope? I will not touch it. No one has opened it since the trick started." You hand the envelope to one of your friend and have him to read the contents.

After that, have your spectator check the card that has been put aside earlier, and of course, your prediction will be correct.

Well, this trick would make you look like the person who is capable of knowing the outcome in advance.

Cool, isn't it?

Magic Tricks Revealed - The Magic Money That Comes From Nowhere

Image : http://www.flickr.com

This is a classic magic trick that involves something everybody loves. Money. And not just any money, free money that magically appears out of nowhere. In this trick you will convince any audience of your alchemical powers.

Here's what it will look like to your small up close audience. Either sitting or standing, you proudly and boldly proclaim that you have solved the mystery of alchemy and can pull money straight from thin air. You are filthy rich, and you have more money than you know what to do with. Skeptical, your audience will close in and demand proof of your new found ability.

You roll up your sleeves to ensure that there's no trickery going on. You say some other magic words and begin to slowly rub your palms together while channeling the spirit of Krosus, the guy who invented money.) While you are rubbing our palms together, paper money will suddenly fly everywhere. Of course, people will want to see you do this trick again, but you can simply explain to them that you only have so much mojo for one night. Naturally, if you tell them you need a drink to repeat this trick, people will line up to buy you one.

Here's how to do the trick. First, contact the ghost of Krosus. If he's not available, then you take a roll of bills, any denomination, and roll the up as tightly as you can. Roll your jacket up about halfway between your wrist and your elbow, and stick the bills in the arm opposite your dominant hand. This will become clear in a minute.

As you are carefully repeating the ancient and magical words, show your hands are empty, and proceed to roll up your sleeves. Start first by rolling up the sleeve with your dominant hand, and quickly slip the bills into your palm. Do this quickly, while you are mumbling something completely incoherent, in order to keep them distracted. Then roll up your other sleeve, and start rubbing your palms together.

As you rub your palms together, simply allow the money to naturally unroll, and fall out as it does so, landing wherever it does. Pretend that the cash is coming from beyond the living-spirit divide, and keep rubbing your hands together after all the money has fallen.

This trick takes a bit of mirror practice, and a quick bit of preparation, but it's well worth it to see the lock on their faces when money starts flying everywhere. A good alternative is to do this with monopoly money, or other play money, and tell them that Krosus (or whoever) has the night off. Of course, the best place to do this is at bars or parties where people are in a good mood and maybe have had something to drink.

Legend of:The Great Jaguar Beasts Of Teotihuacan [a Poetic Mytho]

[The Great Jaguar Beasts were the conquers of the
4th World Order on earth, 22,700 BC]

Prologue: we are about to take a trip, I will be the celestial navigator through time and space, into the signs of time; but we all must take a "Leap of Faith," as I translate the mathematical formulas into constellations into the modern age. The truth of the matter is they don't know they are being talked about, or even that we've found out about them. The jaguars and the giants--the old ones, beasts of the earth; by Mexico City, where once the Alter of the Giants resided; here is where they made their sacrifices. Here at the site is where 150-skeleton bones were found; bones of giants (demonic); bones like dinosaurs. Here is where our legend starts.

The Ages

Eras and epochs, humanities rhymes

Have come and gone, passed with time:

Ice Ages, floods, winds, heat and storms;

Devouring, freezing, burying ancient man

In multi-tombs: glacial, strata, lava-ruins.

Then out of nowhere, so it seemed

Came Giants, and creepy angelic beings:

Demons, ghouls, imps and morbid fairies.

--But once upon a time, there were

The unknown deadly, saber tooth beasts

Who ruled earths, New World Order

The fearless hybrids, the Great Jaguars!

Ah! but they are but a lost legend

Left, without much trying thought

For we have never seen them--

But on the walls of Teotihuacán

Legends now carved in colored rock

Thus, the Great Jaguar beasts live on.

Walk down, down the Road of the Dead

There you will see the Jaguar's head

Slowly, slowly by the high pyramids

The Pyramids of the Sun and Moon

In red stone: blood-stone, stone on stone.

The Giants

The giants were eating all the food of the lands. They were all over the world. Matter-of-fact, the 4th world cycle was coming to an end. First the world was destroyed by the winds, then by the rains and now it would be by a great flood. There would be one more after this one, and that would be destroyed by fire, but they didn't know that at the time. As the giants turned to cannibalism, and the great saber tooth cats became larger each year, so did their appetites. In a strange way, God seems to have balance things out. Some of the cats were 800 lbs.

It was past their time, for the Giants,

The sons and daughters of the fallen,

The Angelic Renegades, the Watchers,

Whom were buried alive by Ure'al--

(of the 3rd World Order)

The archangel, sent by God to destroy

Sent to Earth to stop the curse--

The blight of the Angelic Renegades...

But the Giants did the same on earth

Worse, cannibalism, eating men alive

And hence, this ushered in the 4th Epoch:

The Jaguars' time--who in turn ate...

Ate the giants, in war like crimes.

It was a time of cosmic storms, winds

Rains, and floods and volcanic whims

All changing the face of the earth

Washing away sins, sins after sins....

Stone Men

Then, then the stone men came out

Out from hiding inside their caves--

Feeling all was safe again to parade

Parade around the many graves--

Two-thousand giant graves, they say

But the Jaguars still were kings--

And man had almost vanished again...

So out he came, leaving his paintings

Carved animal scenes on walls, lost

From cosmic events, deadly rains,

Deadly giants, demons and Jaguars

Of the, the forth age of humanity....

[The New Epoch had begun.] A wet dark, vibrating in the air, like insect wings--flapping together was taking place; vibrating everywhere. Then a wet stormy silence: not a sound, but the frequency, like wavelengths picked up; a new era had begun for man!

The Hunt

God's grace now strengthened man's spine

Out of water, fire, clay and time--

Putting power now in his stance and feet

And cleverness in his cerebral brain--

Thus, now he was a match for anything!

Ah! yes, oh yes, He lowered his brow:

Pushed up his chin; opened his eyes

Arched his back, anchored his thighs

He was now the great hunter--

The hunter, of all living things.

Glow Sticks Ideas for Your Next Event

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are many other types of parties that can make use of glow sticks ideas, beyond the typical glow sticks party. These days so many people are using the same themes anyway that the only way to have an original party is to come up with cross themed events. Glow sticks are just such an accent that can make your next party pop.

Glow sticks are wonderful decorative items for parties after dark. This can be adult, bachelorette, bachelor, casino-themed, and even just the Fourth of July celebration. The next casino-style party you have will naturally have a semi-dark atmosphere. Enhance the party and help guest keep track of their chips by using glow-in-the-dark badges in the place of regular poker chips. You can pick out different colors for different amounts, i.e. blue is five, red is ten, etc.

At the Independence Day party you can string together garlands of glow sticks tubes to create lighted garlands. Since the party will likely be outside you can run these garlands along the porch or decking. Go ahead and get glow sticks in patriotic colors like, red, white and blue. You can also wrap the longer glow sticks necklaces around furniture and poles.

Give out glow sticks at your next bachelorette party as party favors. These make especially good party favors if you plan on heading out on the town for the celebration. Glow sticks necklaces and bracelets are very helpful in keeping track of your guests in clubs and on the street.

Kid's parties are also great venues for glow sticks. You'll find that kids love the whole phenomena of glow sticks and if you give out gift bags with glow sticks badges and pendants the kids will start wearing them immediately.

Whether its Halloween or New Year's glow sticks make good additions to help create and interesting effect at your party.

Magic Tricks Revealed - The Fantastic Telepathic Connection

This is a great magic that involves two people. It requires a little bit of practice beforehand, but you will always enthrall with this secret trick. You will convince any audience of you and your partners psychic powers, and they will never guess the secret, no matter how many times you do this. One cool thing about this trick is that you can do it over and over.

This the way the trick will look to your flabbergasted audience. You explain that your friend has a gift of reading your mind, but he or she can only read your mind. They will naturally ask for a demonstration, and you produce a normal pack of cards. You let anybody look through the cards to ensure it's not a trick deck, then you ask your partner to leave the room, or the area for a couple of minutes.

The crowd, or person you are doing this trick with chooses, any card. You don't even touch the deck. They pick out the card, show it to you, and then put the card where nobody can see it. Your partner returns, and sits just behind you, and puts their fingers gently on your temples, just like he or she is doing the old Vulcan mind meld trick. After a few moments, your friend or partner guesses the card.

Here's the trick. When they place their hands, or fingers, on your temple, you gently clench your jaw together a number of times according to a pre set code between you and your partner. Try it now if you like, touch your temple while you clench your jaw muscle, and you will feel it. One way to do this is to clench a certain number of times to signify the suit, pause, and then clench a number of times to signify the card itself.

It can also help if you can put your head down slightly, and they can hold their whole palms flat against the side of your face. That will have a more dramatic effect, and will cover up any obvious clenching. Also, you'll need to explain why your partner needs to touch you only on that spot for it to work, so you'll need to come up with a good story. You can explain that your partner is part Vulcan or something.

Of course, this isn't limited to card tricks. If you and your partner learn Morse code, you can transmit all kinds of information between each other and entertain your friends for hours. One great example is to blindfold your partner, and then have people in the audience hold up simple things, and then you transmit them using Morse code. If he or she is blindfolded, they will be more focused on the integrity of the blind fold than any method of transmission. There are plenty of other ways you can think of to use this versatile trick. Have fun.

Google Teams up with Two Heavy Hitters

Image : http://www.flickr.com

MTV Deal

Google and MTV Networks are working together to test a video distribution model that will serve consumers, web publishers and advertisers.

Google will distribute ad-supported content from MTV Networks to targeted web sites, allowing publishers to showcase clips from premium programming to enhance the content on their sites.

Eric Schmidt, Google's chief executive said, "With the combination of our video technology, and extensive advertiser and publisher network, Google is in a leading position to help content owners, web publishers and advertisers generate interest and increase revenue opportunities."

The new distribution model is just one of two relationships announced today between Google and MTV Networks. The companies also announced that MTV Networks' hit programs will now be available for download through Google Video, for $1.99 per episode.
MTV programming will initially be distributed via Google Video. The companies expect to begin testing the model later this month.

MySpace Deal

Google has won one of the most sought-after deals in the search engine market, beating out Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.com, becoming the exclusive provider of search functionality and search advertising to MySpace.com and other News Corp. websites.

The exclusive deal calls for Google to be the sole provider of both search functionality and text based ad distribution for the MySpace website and other major sites owned by Fox Interactive Media. Google says they will be integrating their search functionality and advertising services into MySpace and the other websites sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

The companies said Monday in a joint statement, as part of the deal, Google must make revenue-sharing payments totaling at least $900 million to Fox Interactive Media over the next 40 months (between the beginning of 2007's first quarter and the end of 2010's second quarter). In turn, Fox Interactive Media must achieve various traffic and other goals.

Both companies say this is the first of many projects Fox Interactive Media plans to enter into with Google in the next few years.

Not quite sure how this deal will pan out, only time will tell. One thing I do know is that Google and MySpace are two of the top visited sites on the Internet. When two major players of this caliber work together, this usually works on in the favor of both companies. I'm interested to see what happens.

Extreme Prices of Meissen Porcelain Products

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Meissen porcelain is a very fine porcelain which was the first true hard paste porcelain ever created in Europe. This porcelain has always had a large impact on arts and porcelain because it encouraged people to create new dishes with special design. Best of all it also inspired people to open special museums dedicated to this porcelain only. This porcelain is so special because the arts created from this material have special patterns, lining and other beautiful features.

Nevertheless this porcelain is roughly expensive because it is old and qualitative. If you search an online auction selling this porcelain you will notice that the prices you will be dealing with will have countless zeroes, because this is a result of their origin and antiquity. Let's take a simple example, a very beautiful clock made from Meissen porcelain that belongs to the period of 1774 to 1815 has an unimaginable price of eighteen thousand dollars which of course can't be affordable by most of us. A figurine showing a 22 inches capricorn belonging to the 20th century has an unrealistic price of fifteen thousand dollars.

A figurine of a white to brown horse costs twelve thousand dollars and it is only 6.5 x 4 inches. That's pretty high for a small decoration, don't you think so too?! In addition a well painted small lion with a size of only 8.5 x 3 inches and 5.5 inches tall costs fourteen thousand dollars. Another clock costs thirteen thousand five hundred dollars, and in addition the clock is not moving so it has to be taken to an expert. As you can see from these examples Meissen porcelain products that are minor can be very pricey but after all it is always worth it to pay a fortune for these products because they are very special!

Finding Out What Dreams Mean - The True Meaning

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Dreams always serve a purpose. If you think there is no meaning behind your dreams, then you are wrong. They are something that comes from within our mind when we are not conscience. According to many experts, dreams are a part of the subconscious desires and thoughts. There are others who say dreams come from the random "noise" that is in the neurons and they have no special meaning. However, we are firm believers that dreams mean something. So, here we are, finding out what dreams mean - the true meaning of them.

There is definitely some form of value behind your dreams and no one is able to say exactly why this is true. No one can even say what causes those dreams.they just happen. Everyone has dreams that are unique. There are no two people that are living with the same emotions, experiences and background all in one. Dreams are something that is connected to our own reality.

In order to fully interpret what your dreams really mean, it is important to look at your personal experiences and life that has occurred recently. When you are able to understand your dreams, this means you will have the ability to understand the true you.

Dreams are generally based on our lives. For instance, we had a dream the other night where we were being chased around by bad guys. We couldn't get a good look at their face, but it was extremely scary. We had nowhere to run and no one to turn to. We got to thinking about this and realized that was how we felt in real life. It was our subconscious mind telling us how we feel. It's pretty funny how it took a dream to tell us this. Those bad guys were never exposed in our dream, but we are pretty sure those bad guys were the problems we are having in our life. In the end, types of dreams and what they mean is very interesting and you could learn from your dreams.

The Escape Plans of Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini was one of the world's most famous magicians and escape artists. Publicity played as much of a role in his acts as magic. Whether he was performing tricks at the request of a newspaper or awing a captive audience, Houdini knew how to work (and escape from) a room. Below are some of the escape acts that brought him the most attention.

The London Daily Mirror Challenge

In 1909, the newspaper gave Houdini the challenge of escaping from a pair of special handcuffs that had taken a locksmith five years to create. The feat was scheduled to be performed on March 20th at the Hippodrome Theater in London. Four thousand spectators and one hundred journalists came out for the escape. Houdini's attempt lasted longer than an hour. At one point, he asked for the cuffs to be taken off so that he could take off his coat but the Mirror representative refused- stating it would allow Houdini to see how the cuffs unlocked. Houdini cut the cut from his body with a pen knife. Nearly an hour later, his wife Bess came on stage and gave him a kiss.

There are different schools of thought on how exactly he escaped- which he finally did at the one hour and ten minute mark. Bess may have slipped a key into his mouth with the kiss. A book by one of Houdini's fellow magicians claimed that it was in a glass of water she brought him when he asked for her help. Others suspect that it was all a publicity stunt on the part of the mirror and Houdini's struggling was just for show. Regardless of how he escaped, Houdini broke down in tears when he was finally free and stated it to be the most difficult escape he ever faced.

Water Filled Milk Can

The Milk Can Escape was an invention original to Houdini. He brought it out in 1908. He was handcuffed then sealed inside a large Milk Can that was filled with water. He performed his escape behind a curtain (so others couldn't learn his trick) and asked the audience to hold their breaths while he was in the can since he wouldn't be able to breathe in there. Later versions of the act included the can being placed inside a wooden chest. He was able to escape by pushing out rivets on the inside that had been filed down ahead of time. He pushed off the lid, climbed out and replaced the rivets and lid.

Suspended in a Straight jacket

Houdini's straight jacket escapes were very popular with the public of the time. He would be strapped in then hoisted up by his ankles from either a crane or a building. He escaped in full view of his audience below. He added a safety wire to his ankles later on after he was blown into the side of a building several times. The wire allowed him to be moved away from the side if impact seemed likely. He escaped from straight jackets by puffing up his chest and shoulders, pushing out his arms and dislocating his shoulders while it was being put on.

Magic Tricks Revealed - The Powerful Psychic Projection

Image : http://www.flickr.com

This is a great up close magic trick that will quickly easily convince anybody that you have powerful psychic powers. It works great on both strangers as well as close friends, and you can do this at parties, bars or even people off the street if you are bold enough. The greatest part about this trick is that it is completely self working, meaning that you don't have to do any sleight of hand or anything. This works of sheer mathematical probability, so even a five year old could do this trick.

This the way the trick will seem to the soon to be mystified audience. You mention in passing that you've recently learned some black arts of psychic "pushing". You can place thoughts secretly in their mind. Of course, they don't believe you, and they ask for a demonstration, to which you happily oblige.

You pull out a regular deck of cards, and open up the cards so that only you can see the cards. You spend a considerable amount of psychic energy looking at the cards, and looking at your friend. Then you put the cards back into a regular stack, and tell the person to choose any two cards, without naming the suit. Like ten and three, or ace and six, for example.

Once they choose their two cards, you look through the deck, and show them that the two cards they chose are right next to each other. They will be amazed, and likely as you to do this trick again. You go through the motions of looking at the cards, and projecting the numbers into their heads. When they choose two more cards, they will again be right next to each other.

The reason this always works is due to sheer mathematical probability. Since they aren't naming the suit of the card, and only the number, there is about a ninety percent chance that any two cards they pick will be next to each other, since when they choose two cards, their actually choosing eight (two cards of four suits each). Just because of mathematical probability, any two cards they choose will really be eight cards, and the chance of being next to each other is about ninety percent.

Naturally, the more you talk a good game, the better. The more you pretend to project thoughts into their mind, and go through the motions of doing painful psychic projection the better. If you like, you can make a friendly bet with them before hand, that you can "force" their decision. Have fun with this.

How To Draw Animals

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It is next to impossible to find a rigid, straight line in the outline of any animal. Nature seldom uses a straight line.
And so hen drawing animals, neither should you.

Here are some tips for drawing realistic animals:

The Horse - The body and legs of the horse fit into a square, with the head and neck extending out of one corner. The legs start downward from the midpoint of the square. Divide the main square again into four equal smaller squares. The length of the head will be about three fourths of one these smaller squares. Get these proportions right and you're halfway done.

The Cow - A square that reaches from the ground to the top of the head will enclose the body and legs. Divide this square into four smaller squares. One of these smaller squares will completely enclose the head. Make the top of the head level with the top of the back.

Drawing animals is every bit as difficult as drawing the human figure, sometimes more so. Animals don't tend to sit posed for very long. An easier method is to use a picture to copy.

Shading - In shading your drawings used delicate curved lines that radiate outward rather than paralleling each other. Make sure shadows blend, not stop abruptly, producing a harsh edge.

Insects lend themselves to drawing models quite nicely, especially when dead. They tend to stay put in that state.

Combinations of angular and curved lines produce contrast, which strengthens any drawing. Draw a bird with gentle curved lines seated in a tree top with hard angular lines used for branches. The resulting contrast produces a more realistic drawing.
